2025 Fall Family Campout

Greetings Pack 337 Families,

What a fantastic weekend we had at our Pack 337 Family Campout! It was the perfect mix of learning, adventure, and fun as our Scouts worked on their Outdoor Adventures and spent quality time together under the stars.

Throughout the weekend, each den tackled exciting activities tied to their rank adventures:

  • Lions, Tigers, and Wolves worked together on part of their Mountain Lion, Tigers in the Wild, and Paws on the Path adventures (respectively) by learning out the buddy system, the Cub Scout Six Essentials, and the Outdoor Code before heading out on a short hike.
  • Wolves continued to work on other requirements for their Let’s Camp Wolf adventure.
  • Bears focused on their Bear Habitat adventure and also practiced knife safety, gaining confidence and responsibility with their first pocketknife lessons as part of the Whittling adventure. They even fit in some hands-on science experiments, blending curiosity with outdoor fun.
  • Webelos worked on their Webelos Walkabout and Let’s Camp Webelos adventure requirements, practicing campsite setup, learning camping skills, and building independence in the outdoors.

The evening was truly special. Around the campfire, both our Cub Scouts and the Scout Troop entertained everyone with skits that brought plenty of laughter. Then, in a moment of true reverence, we held a flag retirement ceremony. I was incredibly impressed with how respectful and attentive every Scout and family member was as we honored the service of our flags. It was a powerful reminder of the values we teach in Scouting.

As the night continued, the Scouts let loose with games of flashlight tag, ghost in the graveyard, and scatter, filling the campground with joyful energy. We also had a cozy outdoor showing of Pixar’s Up! — a perfect way to end a day of adventure.

Events like this highlight why the outdoors is at the heart of Scouting. Camping together strengthens families, builds friendships, and gives our Scouts the chance to grow in confidence, responsibility, and appreciation for nature. These shared moments—around the fire, on the trail, or under the stars—are what create lasting memories and strong character.

Thank you to all the families who joined us, helped with activities or cooking, and made this campout such a success. We can’t wait for our next outdoor adventure together!

Yours in Scouting,
Edward Francis
