Greetings Pack 337 Families,

Our Bear Scouts recently returned from an exciting two-day adventure at Camp Naish’s Cub World, and by all accounts, it was a fantastic way to kick off the summer camping season.

The first session of Bear Camp began with beautiful weather and plenty of excitement. The camp staff were eager to welcome Scouts, and our Bears couldn’t wait to dive into all the activities that Cub World has to offer.

Like any good outdoor adventure, there were a few unexpected lessons along the way. Some uninvited critters found their way into a few tents, giving our Scouts a chance to learn more about the wildlife that shares the outdoors with us. It also served as a great reminder of why bug spray is one of the Cub Scout Six Essentials!

While some of our Scouts were finishing up a baseball tournament, Noah and Shepherd got an early start on the fun. They spent time building toolboxes, exploring the castle, trying their hand at BB shooting, and cooling off at the water park. The Trading Post quickly became a popular destination, and the slushies were a favorite treat throughout the camp.

Once the rest of the den arrived around dinner time, the adventure kicked into high gear. The Scouts participated in a campfire program filled with silly skits and laughter before taking part in a meaningful flag retirement ceremony. Back at camp, flashlights emerged for a little nighttime fun before everyone settled in for a perfect evening of sleeping under the stars.

The next morning, our Bears woke up ready for another day packed with adventure. One of the highlights was the rock climbing wall, where Scouts learned important safety procedures before challenging themselves to climb higher than they thought possible. Several Scouts even made it all the way to the top and rang the bell, celebrating their achievement with big smiles and cheers from their friends.

The shooting sports area was another popular stop. The Scouts participated in archery, and it was clear that experience from previous years had paid off. Bullseyes seemed to be everywhere as our Bears demonstrated improved skill and confidence.

The adventure continued with opportunities to sew pouches, practice soap carving with pocket knives, and cool off once again at the water park. Later, the Scouts explored the abandoned mine area, where they learned about nature and the importance of Leave No Trace principles. These lessons help ensure that future generations can enjoy the outdoors just as much as we do today.

Before long, it was time to pack up and head home. While everyone was tired from two days of non-stop activity, it was clear that the experience had created lasting memories. The Bears returned home with new skills, greater confidence, and plenty of stories to tell.  I know they are excited for the next summer of camping when they get to head to the other side of Camp Naish.
