Wolf Camp at Cub World – Session 1

Our Wolf Scouts had a great time at the first session of Wolf Camp at Cub World. Attending this session were Beckham, Eddie, Evan, Sam, and Spencer. The dads who joined the adventure were Derrick, Matt, Jeremy, and myself.

We did a single overnight campout, and the weather turned out to be really nice. It rained while we were driving into camp, but once we arrived, the rain stayed away for the rest of our time there.

Day one was packed with activities. The Scouts had the opportunity to shoot BB guns, make fossils, create coin rubbings, play capture the flag, and enjoy some time at the pool. We also enjoyed what we sarcastically like to call the best food Bonner Springs has to offer.

One of the favorite parts of camp was the small stuffed bears and wolf plushies that the Scouts picked up and carried with them to activities throughout the day. Those little companions seemed to become part of the adventure everywhere we went.

That evening, we attended the campfire program and watched several entertaining skits. It was especially fun to see some of the Scouts from Troop 337 serving on camp staff and participating in the program.

We had an uneventful night, which is exactly what you hope for while camping, and woke up the next morning ready for another day of fun. After packing up camp before breakfast, we headed off to enjoy slingshots and archery. We wrapped up our activities by making paper airplanes and racing Rain Gutter Regatta boats.

As we walked back to the cars to head home, several Scouts asked if they really had to leave and wished they could stay for one more night. That may be the greatest compliment a camp can receive. I honestly think the Scouts tolerate all of our meetings throughout the year so they can come to camp in the summer!

We’re also excited that Carter, Elliott, and Patrick will be attending the fourth session of Wolf Camp this week. We hope they have just as much fun and create as many great memories as our first group did.

Camp is one of the highlights of the Cub Scout experience, and this year’s Wolf Camp was no exception. We can’t wait to hear about the adventures still to come.
