A Great Start to a New Scouting Year!

Greetings Pack 337 Families,

Sometimes in Scouting, just like in life, plans have to change! With the excessive heat last night, we made the decision to move our meeting indoors and postpone our planned paper rockets and STEM activities. Instead, our Scouts spent the evening working on their Bobcat Adventures.

While it wasn’t the meeting we originally planned, it turned into a great way to begin our new Scouting year. It was wonderful seeing so many of our returning Scouts and families, and it was especially exciting to welcome several new Scouts and their families to Pack 337!

The Bobcat Adventure is an important part of the beginning of each Cub Scout year. Scouts learn and review some of the foundations of Scouting, including the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout sign, salute, and handshake, while talking about what those words and traditions mean. As Scouts get older, their Bobcat requirements build upon those basics with age-appropriate lessons about character, leadership, and what it means to live according to the values of Scouting.

We have a great year of adventures ahead of us, and we’re excited to get started!

Paper Rockets Are Coming!

Don’t worry – we haven’t forgotten about the rockets!

We’ll bring our Paper Rockets and STEM Night back for our next Pack meeting on September 14th. This is always one of our most popular meetings, and we’re looking forward to getting outside, launching some rockets, and having a lot of fun with STEM.

Our Fall Family Campout is also coming up! Camping is one of the best parts of Cub Scouting and a great opportunity for Scouts and their families to spend time outdoors, build friendships, and make memories together.

As we begin the new program year, we’re asking all Pack 337 families to complete our Pack Family Information Form. This helps us make sure we have current information for every Scout and family.

The form also includes information about paying our annual Pack dues.

Stay Connected With Pack 337

Finally, one of the most important things families can do at the beginning of the year is make sure every parent and guardian is connected to our Pack communications.

We use several different methods because each serves a different purpose:

Pack Email Distribution List: Any parent or guardian can be added to our email distribution list. This is one of the primary ways we send important Pack-wide information and reminders.

GroupMe: We have a Pack 337 GroupMe as well as individual GroupMe channels for each den. All parents and guardians should be connected to both the Pack GroupMe and their Scout’s den GroupMe. These are especially useful for quick updates, reminders, questions, and last-minute information.

Scouting America: We can also communicate through Scouting America’s system with the adult accounts associated with each Scout. We strongly encourage every parent and guardian to create their own account at my.scouting.org and make sure it is connected to their Scout. Having every adult properly connected helps ensure important Scouting communications reach everyone in the family.

Help Us Grow Pack 337!

One of the best ways to make Pack 337 even stronger is to invite another family to join the adventure! If your Scout has a friend, classmate, neighbor, or teammate who might enjoy Cub Scouts, encourage them to invite that friend to one of our meetings. Sometimes all it takes is a Scout telling a friend, “You should come with me, we’re launching paper rockets!” Parents can help too by mentioning the Pack to other families at school, sports, church, or around the neighborhood. Families are always welcome to visit a meeting and see what Cub Scouting is all about before deciding to join. The more Scouts we have, the more friendships we build, the more fun we can have, and the stronger our Pack becomes. Our September 14th Paper Rockets and STEM Night would be a great meeting to bring a friend!

Last night was a great reminder that Scouting is an adventure—even when the adventure doesn’t go exactly according to plan! It was great having our Pack back together, welcoming new faces, and seeing the excitement of our Scouts as we begin another year.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic year with Pack 337. We’ll see everyone on September 14th for Paper Rockets and STEM Night!
