Better with a Buddy: Pack 337 Takes Safety Outside!
Beautiful weather, outdoor activities, and plenty of laughter made Monday’s Pack 337 meeting a great night to be a Scout! We took advantage of the nice evening to enjoy our Personal Safety stations outside, turning important lessons into hands-on activities with friends.
Our Scouts practiced ways to speak up, find help, and prepare for different situations. Lions and Tigers worked with their adult partners on “Shout, Run, Tell,” practiced pretend 911 calls, and explored how to stay safe during family outings. From crossing a pretend parking lot to finding help when separated from an adult, they had opportunities to put their new skills into action.
The older Scouts tackled challenges of their own. Wolves discussed personal safety, playground rules, and staying together with a buddy. Bears explored personal space and protective gear, while Webelos considered weather preparedness and ways to make their surroundings safer. Our Arrow of Light Scouts focused on first-aid skills and preparing to help when someone needs them.
Of course, everyone had a blast with the buddy activities! The Buddy Supply Shuttle put teamwork to the test as Scouts carried beanbags on towels around a course together. It took communication, coordination, and a little patience to keep those supplies aboard. A dropped beanbag simply meant stopping together, resetting, and giving it another try!
Throughout the evening, we emphasized that being a good buddy means staying together, looking out for each other, and getting an adult when help is needed. It also means having fun together! Sharing a laugh, encouraging a friend, and celebrating a successful delivery were all part of the lesson.
Thank you to the parents, volunteers, and den leaders who helped make the stations run smoothly. With fresh air, good friends, and lots of teamwork, our Scouts showed just how much fun learning to stay safe can be!
